Rachin Ravindra, the New Zealand cricketer, has Indian roots through his parents, who hail from India. His father, Ravi Krishnamurthy, is originally from Bengaluru (Bangalore), Karnataka, India. Ravi moved to New Zealand in the 1990s for work and played club cricket there before encouraging his son Rachin to take up the sport.  


Rachin' name is a tribute to two legendary Indian cricketers—Rhul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar—reflecting his family's deep connection to Indian cricket. Despite being born and raised in New Zealand, Rachin has often spoken about his Indian heritage and has visited India multiple times for cricket and family connections.
