maga hat
A New York woman named Aura Moody is suing the New York Mets for $2 million, claiming emotional distress, racial discrimination, and political retaliation after being asked to remove her "Make America Great Again" (MAGA) hat at a game in August 2024.
Moody, a member of the Queens Village Republican Club, was told by a Citi Field staffer that her hat was "too political" and was not allowed inside.
After being forced to remove the hat, she noticed other attendees wearing similar MAGA attire, leading her to believe she was being unfairly targeted as a Black woman.
The Mets later acknowledged the incident, apologized, and clarified that there was no policy against wearing political attire like MAGA hats. They also confirmed that the employee had been retrained. However, Moody proceeded with the lawsuit, claiming the incident caused significant harm.
